Florida gets most of the attention when Americans talk about escaping winter, but warm winters in the US cover more ground than that. Honolulu, Hawaii leads the list with a coldest-month low of 73°F (23°C), and the 7 cities here span 5 states, a broader spread than the usual suspects suggest.

The humid Southeast dominates the upper half of the list. Florida, coastal Georgia, and the Gulf Coast stay warm because moisture from the Gulf of Mexico and the Atlantic moderates temperatures through winter. The dry Southwest, Arizona, southern California, and southern Nevada, contributes a significant secondary cluster where desert geography keeps nights from cooling too far.

The tradeoff differs by region. Southeast cities bring summer humidity that makes heat feel heavier than the thermometer suggests: a 92°F (33°C) day in Florida and a 92°F (33°C) day in Phoenix are genuinely different experiences.
